Bible Codes?

It may come as no surprise to you, but there is another scandal surfacing in the media concerning the “War on Terror.” This scandal does not discuss government spending or military strategy, but the production of weaponry for the United States. Some have discovered Biblical codes “encoded” into the serial numbers on sites for rifles.

Since the discovery, it has been a sizzling story! Last week Nightline News picked up the story for “Prime Time” viewing. On some rifle sites, the serial numbers read “2COR46”, referring to 2 Corinthians 4:6, which says, “…let light shine out of darkness…” Other rifles read “JN812”, referring to John 8:12, which says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Trijicon, the company who manufactures these rifles, and has a 1 billion dollar contract with the United States Government to do so, is a Christian owned corporation. When asked about the serial numbers and the possible Biblical codes, Trijicon confirmed the theory, and they admitted to inserting the codes since the Vietnam War! Anti-Christian groups are outraged because they believe the codes suggest a “Holy War” between Islam and Christianity, even though President Obama made the statement several months ago, “America is not—and never will be—at war with Islam.” Pacifist Christian groups are also concerned, as they claim these rifles publicize and advertise “Firearms of Jesus Christ.”

Bible Codes on rifles? That’s a new one for me! However, I like the idea of “Bible Codes.” But instead of us putting the codes on rifles, how about we put them on the walls of our homes, on our desks at work, and on the bumpers of our cars? Or better yet, why don’t we just live like the Bible tells us to live, tell others why we are living the way we are, and help them “crack the code” to the Christian life?
