A "Volvo" Faith?

Have you heard about Irvin Gordon? He’s the proud owner of a 1966 Volvo P1800s. This coupe of antiquity has not one, not two, but nearly three MILLION miles clocked on the odometer. The warranty expired 43 years and 2,950,000 miles ago.

Gordon bought the car brand new in 1966 for $4,150. With hesitancy, he decided to splurge and purchase the $10 upgrade for AM/FM Radio. I’d say Gordon got his money’s worth out of Volvo. Companies like Toyota, Nissan, and Honda brag about their cars lasting 250,000 miles, but 3,000,000 miles? Come on! I guess “they just don’t make them like they used to”, do they?

Do you have a “Volvo” type of Faith? Paul describes this same, spiritual longevity when he writes, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)

It doesn’t matter if your journey last 3,000,000 miles or 3,000,000 minutes, the prize is waiting. Press On.
